RC Lens captain Séko Fofana (28) is set to complete his move to PIF-funded Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Nassr in the coming days, according to a report from L’Équipe. The Ivory Coast international – arguably one of Ligue 1’s best overall midfielders – did not report for RC Lens’ pre-season amid growing interest from Al-Nassr. The French publication understand that Fofana, the Artois side and the Saudi Arabia outfit are all in agreement regarding the player’s move from Lens to the Riyadh-based club.
However, the move is not yet complete because Al-Nassr have been hit by a temporary transfer ban by FIFA. The decision was taken as Al-Nassr allegedly missed a payment, valued at €500.000, to Leicester City FC. Ahmed Musa’s €16m transfer from the Foxes to Al-Nassr in 2021 is at the heart of the matter as the Nigerian’s performances unlocked bonuses that Leicester City FC were due. L’Équipe understand that the matter will be resolved next week when FIFA will get the proof that Al-Nassr’s debt had been honoured. Fofana’s move is set to be made official when Al-Nassr’s transfer ban will be lifted.
