West Ham have finally entered the race to sign Liam Delap this summer.
Despite it being clear that the club will once again be in the market for a new striker come the end of the season, for whatever reason, the Hammers have not been linked with a move for the sensational Ipswich Town player.
With the Tractor Boys set to head back to the Championship, Delap is going to depart and without doubt have his sights on his next step in his career, with an established Premier League club undoubtedly in his crosshairs.
While the media are very much focused on the apparent tussle between Chelsea and Manchester United, its easy to understand why Delap might well see these are hugely risky moves.
Both clubs, although huge in football, are unstable, with Manchester United in particular a club that many seem eager to get away from rather than head to.
Although West Ham have had a difficult season, the fact we now have Graham Potter in charge and can offer a guarantee of first team football, with an ambition to get back into Europe, east London could be seen as a wise move for Delap.
Its bow reported that West Ham are firmly in the mix for Delap, with a £30m release clause set to trigger a bidding and more like schmoozing war, with many feeling there is a fairly high chance of winning.
