Lorenzo Colombo has started his loan spell at Empoli in the best way possible and as such, AC Milan are happy that they included a buy-back clause in the deal. However, said clause might not be nominal this time out.

Colombo spent the pre-season with Milan and scored a brace against Manchester City, showing his qualities inside the box. However, with Alvaro Morata, Luka Jovic and then eventually Tammy Abraham in the squad, a loan was the right move for him.

Empoli jumped at the opportunity and signed the 22-year-old on loan with an option to buy at €7m, as per Nico Schira. However, and which is of great importance after the striker’s positive start, Milan have a buy-back clause.

Indeed, Colombo has scored two goals and assisted another one in his first five appearances for the Castellano side. Should he continue like this, then Empoli will certainly trigger the buy-out and Milan could also trigger their clause.

The report doesn’t mention any figures for the buy-back clause. However, last year, Lecce exercised a €2.5m option to keep Colombo and Milan bought him back for around €3.5m. Now, with the figures being higher and the striker being more experienced, it’s possible that the buy-back could be worth €2-3m more than the buy-out.
