Gianluca Scamacca feels this is the ‘best moment’ of his career and insists Italy players must ‘honour the shirt’ at Euro 2024.

Scamacca spoke to DAZN after Atalanta’s 3-2 loss to Fiorentina at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday.

“I get there in the best and most important moment of my career. I hope to continue like this and help the national team too,” Scamacca said.

What was the turning point for him this season? At the beginning of the campaign, Atalanta played against Inter and Milan, and he wasn’t in his best shape.

“I remember those San Siro games pretty well. Honestly, I wasn’t feeling fine, neither mentally nor physically,” the striker admitted.

“I suffered a few injuries when I arrived, but from February-March, I reaped the rewards of the work I was doing, my shape improved, and I was more consistent.

“I tended to isolate myself too much before, but now I feel much more involved. I’ve improved in these aspects these months.”

What makes Atalanta so special?

“It is a family; it’s a healthy and pure club, which is difficult and rare to find these days. It’s an amazing reality and it’s great to be involved in this.”

Scamacca will join the Italy national team in Coverciano tomorrow. Can the Azzurri reach the European Championship Final again this year?

“We must honour the shirt and if we manage to go all the way through, even better,” concluded Scamacca.
