Press reports have revealed that Congolese defender Saël Kumbedi, a player for the French club Olympique Lyonnais, is attracting significant interest from several prominent European clubs, including German club Wolfsburg, who are looking to strengthen their defensive system at the start of the new season.

Imminent contact between the two clubs to obtain the services of the Congolese player

According to Foot Mercato journalist Sébastien Denis, the two clubs are close to finalizing a €9 million agreement, which includes a fixed fee of €7 million plus €2 million in potential add-ons. Should the deal be completed, Olympique Lyonnais would secure a significant profit on a player they acquired for just around €1 million back in 2022.

The 20-year-old right-back, under contract until 2027, is a highly sought-after talent. His qualities as a modern full-back, combined with his considerable experience—boasting over 50 Ligue 1 appearances—have drawn interest from numerous clubs.

In France, both Lille and Nice have shown concrete interest. Lille submitted a formal offer of €5 million, which was turned down by Lyon, while Nice have so far limited their involvement to preliminary inquiries. A decision regarding the player's future is expected to be made this week.
