The Red Dragons have been on such a successful run, but their fortunes could go in the other direction pretty quickly.

Ryan Reynolds has been warned that some of Wrexham's supporters could begin to turn on him if they don't perform in the Championship.

Being a Wrexham fan over the past four years must have been a blissful experience. Bar the one season in the National League when they came second to Stockport County and were knocked out of the play-offs by Grimsby Town, the Racecourse has witnessed all manners of successes.

This season they became the first team in the history of the English leagues to go up from the fifth tier to the second tier as a result of three consecutive promotions.

They're expected to challenge soon-to-be former Premier League sides Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton for transfer targets this summer, as per Sky Sports, thanks to being one of the biggest revenue generators in the country. What more could a football fan want?

Well, that's not actually a rhetorical question. Us lovers of the beautiful game always want bigger and better things - larger and shinier trophies, more records, all that jazz. When we aren't satisfied, we have a tendency to turn quickly, especially in the modern age of football.

Ryan Reynolds sent Wrexham, Championship warning

Reynolds has been warned by Humphrey Ker, the club's community director, that he won't be immune to that intolerance if things start to go badly for the Red Dragons.

Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Ker stated: "The very first thing I said to Ryan, I said 'Just so you know if we do this, there will come a time when you are called a c**t in front of your kids in Manchester Airport by a Wrexham fan, because we will have lost four games in a row in the Championship, and we’ll be teetering near relegation, and someone will have a proper go at you in front of your kids.'

"The very first game he came to we were away at Maidenhead United. They got brought in through a side gate and because of all the cameras and the lights that were filming them, immediately the sort of 800 Maidenhead fans were aware that they were there, and just pelted them with abuse.

"And they loved it, because, of course, they spend their whole lives hearing 'Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, I love you, oh my God, I love you. Please sign this picture I have of you'.

"First of all, we lost 3-2 and they (the Maidenhead supporters) were like 'You bought the wrong club, you bought the wrong club', which they love. But then also people being like 'Stick your Deadpool up your arse you f***ing talentless c**t. Who's this one? I've never f***ing heard of him' and all this kind of stuff. They sat in their chairs and were like 'That's the best thing. I love that. Does that happen at every game?'"

It should take a seismic downturn for Wrexham supporters to go off their owners

Reynolds, and his fellow co-owner and Hollywood star Rob McElhenney, have done such an amazing job at providing the resources that the club needed to be lifted from the National League to the position where they are now, about to get their first taste of Championship football.

Given the money that they have put into the club - £14.1 million by the end of June 2024, as per The Athletic - Wrexham would need to go on such a barren run of results for things to really turn sour in north Wales.
