Ruben Loftus-Cheek set for surprise England recall | OneFootball

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (29) is set for a surprise recall to the England squad, seven years after the last of his 10 caps for the Three Lions, as per a report from BBC Sport.

Loftus-Cheek is a player that England manager Thomas Tuchel is familiar with, with the pair having worked together while at Chelsea. The German utilised the academy product regularly during his time at Stamford Bridge. Now a regular at AC Milan, the Chelsea academy product has been out of the picture on the international scene for several years. His last game came back in November 2018, when he came off the bench in a win against the USMNT.

His touted recall comes amid doubts about Adam Wharton’s fitness. The midfielder picked up a groin injury in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win against Aston Villa on Sunday.

During the upcoming international break, England will face Andorra and Serbia in FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
