After being linked with Juventus for the majority of the transfer window, it now looks as though Jadon Sancho will be joining AS Roma.

The Serie A outfit entered the race this week amid Juventus putting their Sancho interest on the back burner to prioritise the signing of Ademola Lookman, which paved the way for his other suitors to work on a deal.

Truth be told, the winger has not garnered anywhere near the amount of interest he’d have hoped for when he was sent back from Chelsea in June – though it hasn’t come as much of a surprise to Manchester United fans, who anticipated the club would struggle to shift their lacklustre acquisition.

Jadon Sancho to Roma: What’s been said?

This morning, Fabrizio Romano took to X/Twitter to confirm that Roma are in ‘direct talks’ with the player’s entourage to try and hash out an agreement imminently.

Romano states that their proposal is a season-long loan plus an obligation to buy, and it is the ‘best proposal’ United have received thus far.

Sancho is now in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, with the board just ready to wash their hands of him once and for all.

United will be relieved to finally get rid of Sancho

When he eventually makes his anticipated switch, Sancho will be pulling the curtains on his United tenure after a dismal four years in red.

His fallout with Erik ten Hag in 2023 and subsequent loans to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea mean supporters haven’t properly seen him in action for the side since the start of 2023/2024, when he played three matches before being exiled from the first team.

As a result, he will leave the club with only 83 appearances to his name, having scored a measly 12 goals and contributed a further six assists.
