New Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has made his concerns known about Roma’s transfer business or the lack thereof in this summer window. They are set to sign young defender Daniele Ghilardi from Hellas Verona but it doesn’t seem like they are done with strengthening their backline just yet. As per TMW, they are considering mainly a couple of players. Charlie Cresswell is a 22 year old English centre-back who currently plays for Toulouse in Ligue 1. He has been very impressive for the England U21 teams too. He is physically imposing, and good on the ball. Given his age, and that of Ghilardi this would be an interesting acquisition. However, it is important to keep in mind that a number of Premier League clubs are also chasing him at the moment. The other option mentioned in the report includes Alexander Djiku, who currently plays for Fenerbache in the Turkish league but a return to the European elite is said to be appealing to him. He would bring more experience to the team than Cresswell or Ghilardi and would also be cheaper because of his age. Kaulik Mitra | GIFN
