Roma are reportedly eager to part ways with veteran defender Chris Smalling.

The Englishman’s scarce usage this season due to frequent injuries has prompted Roma to look for potential suitors in the offseason.

The capital club, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport, would be glad to get rid of Smalling’s wages given how unreliable he’s been from a fitness standpoint.

Smalling roughly earns €3 million per season with a contract that is set to expire in 2025 – Roma’s big objective for the summer is to slash the wage bill and thus getting rid of players like Smalling is considered the capital club’s new starting point for the project with Daniele De Rossi at the helm.
