Although preparations have already begun for the upcoming campaign and his excitement to get back to work, Robert Vilahamn acknowledges the importance of the summer break.

After taking over as Women’s Head Coach in July, 2023, it took little time for Robert to insert his attacking philosophy on the team, guiding the side to just one defeat in our opening nine games of the season in all competitions.

We went on to finish inside the top six of the Barclays Women’s Super League for only the second time in five seasons, while we made history in the Women’s FA Cup as we reached the final for the first time.

It was a very promising maiden campaign under the 41-year-old, so it’s no surprise to hear the boss’ eagerness to get back to work for next season, however he highlights the need to relax, reload and spend time with family over the next few weeks.

“Whenever you go on a break, it’s always nice for one or two days, but then you are like it’s actually more fun to work than having a vacation,” Robert said.

“In my head, I have already started to plan for next season but I also know that you need this break, you need time to relax and make sure you come back with a lot of energy so I will have a few weeks to be with my family but I will be very relaxed when I come back with plenty of energy.”

Robert is currently enjoying a few days away back in Sweden with his family but when speaking to the media in the final week of the season, he revealed his desire to visit Cornwall and he managed to do that in the opening weeks of the close season.

“It was a really nice and a beautiful place,” he added. “We were slightly unlucky with the weather so we couldn’t really enjoy the beaches too much, but we will definitely go back there at some point in the summer.”
