Former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand has moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal.

This of course comes fresh off the 17-year-old’s latest dazzling individual display.

Lamine was in from the off once more on Tuesday night, as Barcelona welcomed Benfica to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana marched on to a 3-1 triumph, to book their spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

And wide-man Lamine proved himself decisive in as much.

After first laying on a sumptuous assist for Raphinha’s opener, the Spanish international turned goalscorer himself, courtesy of a pinpoint bending effort from outside the penalty area.

Such exploits saw Lamine make fresh history, as the youngest player to ever notch both a goal and an assist in a single Champions League fixture.

And, as alluded to above, one individual who could not help but be impressed by Barcelona’s attacking prodigy was Rio Ferdinand.

Taking to his official ‘X’ account, the ex-Manchester United defender wrote:

‘Lamine Yamal – not seen anything like him in my lifetime at this age – no one is doing what he has done at the same level with such consistency!’
