This week, PSG saw more money enter their coffers after Liverpool concluded the signing of Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt. Now, how much exactly did the Parisians get from this transfer?

Throughout the summer months, Ekitiké’s name was in the transfer rumor mill as a move to the Premier League got louder and louder. Nonetheless, over the last few days it seemed as though a deal was on the verge of happening, which did happen.

Liverpool landed the 23-year-old goal scorer as he signed a six-year contract at Anfield and in a deal that could, if all conditions are met, eventually rise to about £79 million.

The Athletic’s Adam Crafton reports that PSG received €17 million (£15 million) this week from a sell-on clause tied to Ekitiké’s transfer. On top of that, the club has brought in at least £200 million thanks to their Champions League triumph and finishing as runners-up at the Club World Cup.

signed him on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for €35 million (£30 million; $41 million at current rates).

The timing, however, wasn’t ideal. Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were all still at the club during his first season, and Ekitike made just one league start in his first three months under Christophe Galtier.

With limited chances, his confidence took a hit, and his performances suffered. He finished the Ligue 1 season with only three goals from 25 appearances. In January 2024, he joined Frankfurt on loan, and since then, his development has taken off.

The former France Under-21 international scored 22 goals in all competitions last season, including 15 in the Bundesliga and now will look to translate this production to the Premier League.
