Revealed: Roma had practically sold Tammy Abraham for €40 million prior to ACL injury | OneFootball

Roma and Tammy Abraham have yet to sort out their mutual future ahead of a busy summer for both.

Today’s edition of Il Tempo reports that Abraham’s stay in the Italian capital is far from guaranteed although the player is currently the only active striker on Roma’s roster that belongs to the Giallorossi as both Romelu Lukaku and Sardar Azmoun are expected to conclude their respective loans and return to their parent clubs at the end of the season.

Given the difficulties he’s encountered since coming back from a long, injury-induced absence, Abraham is unlikely to draw interest in the summer transfer window.

However, the newspaper reveals that this was not the case a year ago: on the contrary, Roma had practically sold Tammy Abraham to an English club (likely Aston Villa who had been prominently linked with him at the end of last year’s campaign) for a fee of around €40 million.

To everyone’s detriment, Abraham’s ACL injury put a stop all of this – the 26-year-old is now hoping to get back into Daniele De Rossi’s rotations ahead of next season.
