With Alexis Saelemaekers and Tammy Abraham in the headlines for AS Roma and AC Milan, a lot has been written recently about their futures.
As La Repubblica (via MilanNews) recalls, one of the last deals completed in the summer window was the loan swap between Milan and Roma with Saelemaekers heading to the Giallorossi and Abraham joining the Rossoneri.
Both players have had their ups and downs due to a combination of injuries and not having a starting spot, yet they have written themselves in the history books. Saelemaekers scored in the derby against Lazio to make it 2-0 over the weekend, while Abraham netted an added-time winner vs. Inter.
There are two players that Roma are ready to put on the table to convince Milan to permanently sell the former Anderlecht man. The first is Abraham, who Milan do not seem particularly interested in keeping beyond the end of this season at the moment.
The other is Bryan Cristante and given that the Diavolo are looking for a midfielder in the January transfer window, his name appeals more. However, there is a new factor to consider: Conceiçao, who would like Saelemaekers back at Milanello.
The Portuguese coach, who arrived at the Rossoneri at the end of December to replace the sacked Paulo Fonseca, greatly admires the Belgian winger and considers him perfect for his 4-4-2 system.
It also remains to be seen what Saelemaekers’ future will be, who has never hidden the fact that he is very happy at Roma, but also stated upon his return that he feels like San Siro is home.
