Thursday’s reports claim that Inter have already made a decision in relation to a new contract extension for centre-forward Marcus Thuram, which means that the Nerazzurri could have an opportunity to remove the release clause included in the Frenchman’s current deal.
According to reports on Thursday morning, Inter are ‘considering’ the possibility of handing a new contract extension to Thuram in an attempt to remove the release clause in his current contract, which reportedly stands at €85m.
Thuram joined the Nerazzurri ahead of the 2023-24 season, joining on a free transfer after the expiry of his Borussia Monchengladbach contract, and has since established himself as one of Europe’s most consistent strikers with 15 goals and seven assists during his first season, and 14 goals and four assists already in 2024-25.
In order to remove the release clause currently included in Thuram’s deal, Inter will have to negotiate a new contract with the striker and his representatives.

While reports earlier on Thursday claimed that there was a possibility that Inter extend Thuram’s deal, reports from Calciomercato.it claim that the club have already decided to go ahead with the idea on their side, and now require an agreement with the player himself.
Thuram currently earns around €6m-€6.5m per season in San Siro, on a deal that currently runs until the summer of 2028.
Inter’s current highest earner is Thuram’s striker partner Lautaro Martinez, who put pen to paper on a new and improved deal over the summer, which earns him a base salary of €9m per year.
