Despite their previous confidence, in recent days FC Barcelona had largely accepted that the La Liga Matchday 4 fixture against Valencia, the first home match of the season scheduled for 13 or 14 September, would be very difficult to play at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The delay in presenting the Final Works Certificate and thus obtaining the First Occupancy Licence has become a major hurdle for the La Liga champions.
There still remains some hope that the following home fixture could be held at the stadium. However, the statements of City Council member Albert Batlle make it seem very unlikely that a return to Camp Nou will take place this autumn.
This is a major setback that forces the Blaugrana to accelerate the alternative options to host the Barcelona vs Valencia fixture next month.
Barça have reached an agreement to once again use Montjuic as a Plan B for half the season. But the problem is the match against Valencia, since on Friday the 12th, there is a concert by Post Malone at the Estadi Olimpic and there is no time to prepare the facilities.
Therefore, even if the first half of the season is played there, an alternative venue must be found for Barcelona vs Valencia. As such, Mundo Deportivo confirms that the Catalans are exploring three potential options for the same.

Barcelona are considering using Girona’s stadium, Estadi Montilivi, the closest and probably the most convenient for supporters and the team, as an option to host the Valencia clash.
However, there has not yet been any formal approach to Girona to explore the move, although no difficulties are expected if this is ultimately the path chosen.
The second option still under consideration at Barcelona is to compensate the organisers of the Post Malone concert so that it can be held at the Palau Sant Jordi instead of the Montjuic Stadium.
This option is highly complicated, however, because ticket sales are strong and Sant Jordi is simply too small for the expected crowd.
A third route that the Blaugrana are analysing is to request La Liga to play Matchday 4 as an away fixture as well; in other words, at Mestalla. Indeed, Valencia’s ground is the third option currently on the table.
Although Barcelona are aware that there would be opposition from several clubs that have already voiced complaints about the first three fixtures being away, there is a belief that an agreement could be reached with La Liga for this exceptional measure.
