According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have decided to keep their defence intact with Benjamin Pavard, Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi, going back for Udinese’s Oumar Solet in January.
The Nerazzurri had been expected to bring in a new, younger centre-back this summer, but only if they first managed to sell one of their ageing back line.
In the final days of the transfer session, it looks as if coach Cristian Chivu and the club hierarchy have opted to postpone that process until January 2026.

The only thing that could change that would be the exit of Benjamin Pavard, although Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and clubs in France don’t seem prepared to make a suitable offer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport maintain the plan is to keep hold of the defence as it stands until the January window, then see what other proposals are around.

More importantly, by then they hope Udinese will be more eager to part with Solet, who is under contract until June 2027.
Another issue they think might be resolved by then is the sexual assault allegations that Solet is facing.
