Carlo Ancelotti will soon hold crisis talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in search of a way out of the team's recent slump, a report has claimed.

Madrid have underwhelmed in La Liga so far this season, although Barcelona's latest collapse against Las Palmas has actually put Los Blancos back in the driving seat, but it is in the Champions League where things have been most alarming. The reigning champions sit 24th in the standings with just six points from five games.

Central to Madrid's issues this year has been the form of Kylian Mbappe. The summer signing was supposed to elevate Ancelotti's side to new heights but, despite a misleading return of nine goals in 18 games, has fallen well short of expectations.

MARCA state Ancelotti and Perez both took some time to cool off after the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, with the pair scheduling in a round of crisis talks before Sunday's meeting with Getafe.

Ancelotti and Perez are both expected to give feedback on the other's performance this season in search of the solution to Madrid's current woes. Perez will also confirm his level of commitment to the Italian.

While there are concerns about the on-field performances, it is claimed that those behind the scenes at Madrid have significant regrets about the summer transfer window and the failure to reinforce a number of key positions.

Injuries have been a significant problem but Madrid have nonetheless been criticised for the failure to replace the retired Toni Kroos and experienced striker Joselu, while the decision not to sign a new centre-back following serious injuries to both Eder Militao and David Alaba has baffled onlookers.

Despite the misery surrounding the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid can actually climb to within one point of Barca with a win over Getafe on Sunday, after which they will still have one game in hand over their Clasico rivals.
