AC Milan are pushing to beat Inter Milan to the signing of Parma defender Giovanni Leoni.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Rossoneri will meet with the 18-year-old’s representatives soon.

It is certainly no secret that Giovanni Leoni is attracting transfer interest.

Parma only signed the teenage defender last summer. Reportedly they paid Sampdoria a fee of around €7 million.

However, that bet looks to have paid off in a big way for the Gialloblu.

Giovanni Leoni enjoyed an outstanding season with Parma. Particularly towards the end of the campaign.

The 18-year-old looked extremely comfortable at the heart of Parma’s defense as they avoided relegation under Cristian Chivu.

After having so much success working together with Leoni at Parma, Chivu is keen to bring the teenager with him to Inter.

However, the Nerazzurri are hardly the only club with an interest in Leoni’s signature.

And in particular, Tuttosport report, Inter’s city rivals AC Milan are eyeing up a move for the 18-year-old.

According to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri are planning talks with Leoni’s representatives in the next few days.

Milan want to act quickly and convince the 18-year-old that their project is right for him. Then, they could snap him up before Inter have time to make their move.
