While the Brazilian has clear pedigree and Champions League experience, concerns linger over his consistency and whether that kind of fee represents real value – especially when Eberechi Eze, who is already Premier League-proven, might cost less.

From a tactical standpoint, however, Arteta might see Rodrygo as someone who can provide an extra cutting edge in big games – something Arsenal arguably lacked last season, particularly against PSG.

If the Gunners can negotiate Madrid’s asking price down closer to the €80m mark, and if wages remain reasonable, it’s a risk worth taking. But if the price climbs towards €100m, fans may well prefer those funds go toward strengthening multiple areas of the squad.

Ultimately, Rodrygo could be a brilliant signing – but only at the right price, and only if he fits the long-term vision.
