Rennes hijack OGC Nice’s Mahdi Camara deal | OneFootball

Mahdi Camara (27) had looked to be closing in on a move to OGC Nice, however, Stade Rennais have stepped in to hijack the deal, as per a report from RMC Sport.

Nice have been looking to bring in midfield reinforcements, and they looked to have found that in Camara. As reported by RMC Sport, a deal between Le Gym and Stade Brestois was almost completed, whilst the player himself had already agreed a four-year deal with the Riviera club.

The transfer looked just a matter of time, however, at the final hour, Rennes stepped in. The Breton club, in advanced talks with Brest, are now set to sign the SB29 midfielder for a fee of around €8m. Seduced by the club’s project, despite their lack of European football this season, Camara is therefore now set to join Rennes, instead of Nice, whose participation in this season’s UEFA Europa League was confirmed following defeat to SL Benfica on Tuesday.
