Chelsea “really like” and “appreciate” RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have been busy this summer and have already three attacking signings in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea haven’t ruled out adding another attacker, whilst they are also said to be in the market for a left sided defender to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea big fans of Xavi Simons

Chelsea reportedly want as many as eight or nine attacking options in their squad to rotate between next season.

Noni Madueke has joined Arsenal, whilst Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are both expected to leave, meaning there’s space for another attacker.

There was interest in Mohammed Kudus, who’s now joined Tottenham, as well as Hugo Ekitike who’s close to joining Liverpool.

Morgan Rogers is also of interest, but there have been a number of links to Leipzig star Simons over the past few days.

Chelsea reportedly have Simons on their radar, whilst there’s also said to be interest from rivals Arsenal in the 22-year-old.

It’s thought €65m plus add ons could be enough to get Simons, who only joined Leipzig on a permanent deal in January.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea make a move, but Romano has provided an update on how Chelsea feel about the Dutch international.

“Xavi Simons is a player Chelsea really like and appreciate internally, and so he remains an option for Chelsea,” he told his Youtube channel.

Simons can play both centrally and on the left, making him a great option for the Blues, and he scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 33 appearances last season.

Morgan Rogers the dream target

Whilst Chelsea have interest in Simons, it’s been reported their dream transfer target is Aston Vila’s Morgan Rogers.

The 22-year-old is considered not for sale by Villa, but some reports have suggested a deal could be done at around £80m.

Chelsea are yet to make any approach, but Villa also like Nicolas Jackson, so it’s a situation to keep an eye on for the remainder of the window.
