Manchester United have reportedly entered preliminary discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt regarding the acquisition of forward Hugo Ekitike.
No official offer has been submitted yet, but - according to Sky Sports - United are assessing the terms of a potential agreement for a player who hit 22 goals across all competitions for Eintracht last season.
It is believed personal terms won’t pose an issue, and the Frenchman may be receptive to a possible transfer – although several other clubs are also showing interest, including Chelsea and Liverpool.
Sources at Sky indicate United have monitored Ekitike’s progress for some time now and it is understood that the Red Devils are keen to recruit a striker regardless of whether Rasmus Hojlund stays or goes this summer.
The Denmark international has attracted attention from Serie A clubs, including Inter Milan, but has expressed a desire to compete for his spot next season.
Ekitike is not the only forward on United’s radar. Initial talks with agents have also taken place regarding a potential deal for Sporting goal machine Viktor Gyokeres.
