Declan Rice is facing the reality that he is without a trophy in 2 seasons since departing West Ham for Arsenal.
The England midfielder is undoubtedly a proud product of our Academy of Football, with Rice rightly considered one of the best in the world, something West Ham fans have been saying for many years.
Rice was made Hammers captain, as he replaced club legend and close friend Mark Noble, however his decision to swap east for north London in the summer of 2023 broke West Ham hearts, and its a decision fans do not let Rice forget when we face him.
“You should have signed for a big club” is often the chant directed at Rice, considering their lack of success despite a repeated arrogance from the Gunners, who once again failed to deliver after being knocked out of the Champions League last night.
It’s a moment many West Ham fans will have enjoyed to witness, as Rice stared into space possibly wondering if a move to Manchester City may well have been the better move when he departed east London.
Despite the hurt though, there is undeniably a love for Rice that still sits with the Hammers fanbase as a whole, and its a love that is shared by the player himself.
Regardless of where he currently plays his football, Rice is a West Ham fan, who regularly talks to many of the players and staff, even with a real suggestion that a return will be on the cards at a time that is right in this career.
We understand this is a discussion that has loosely been had between Rice and those at West Ham, who know deep down that despite wearing the red of Arsenal, he still very much only bleeds Claret & Blue.
