Ahead of Real Madrid’s opening La Liga fixture against Osasuna this Tuesday, Xabi Alonso faced the media at the Santiago Bernabéu on Monday. The Merengues’ head coach tackled several hot topics surrounding Real Madrid—most notably the situation of Rodrygo. For weeks, rumors have linked the Brazilian with a move away, particularly to Arsenal. However, according to Xabi Alonso, all of this is nothing but speculation.

“There have been a lot of rumors this summer. He is doing well. I want him to be fully committed to the team and to give 100%. I rely on everyone present in training. That’s what concerns and occupies me right now,” the Spanish manager told the press. Rodrygo is therefore expected to get playing time in this opening match of La Liga.
