Real Madrid host Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with the game poised perfectly at 2-2 following last week’s encounter in Germany.

Los Blancos will be determined to make the most of home advantage and progress to yet another European final, although Bayern, who have missed out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusn this season, will provide stiff opposition at the Bernabeu.

Real are the record 14-time European champions and are aiming to make their sixth Champions League final in the last 10 years while Bayern, who have been crowned kings of the continent six times, are looking to progress to their first European Cup Final since 2020.

English stars go head-to-head

The failure of any Premier League clubs to get to the last four in the Champions League this season has been tempered slightly by the fact there will be two of the Three Lions’ finest on show in the Spanish capital when these two European heavyweights square off.

Jude Bellingham is the Real midfield star – the former Borussia Dortmund man has had a superb debut season in Spain scoring 22 goals so far – while in opposition England skipper Harry Kane carries Bayern’s hopes.

The pair of them are enjoying themselves playing away from their home country and it would not be a surprise to see either or both shine in the second leg on Wednesday.

Kane scored a penalty in the first leg and has now accumulated a stunning tally of 44 goals for Bayern in all competitions this season.

However, following his departure from Tottenham, the striker will desperately be after silverware and, after Bayern’s expected title challenge faded domestically, all his focus will be on beating Real.

First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a timely return for Los Blancos against Cadiz at the weekend after recovering from his knee injury but Ancelotti has confirmed that his stand-in, Andriy Lunin, will start in goal against Bayern.

Dani Carvajal is available again for Real after serving his European suspension, leaving David Alaba as the only injury absentee for the hosts.

For Bayern, Raphael Guerreiro is likely to miss the remainder of the season due to the ankle injury he picked up against Stuttgart at the weekend, while Eric Dier is also a doubt after he suffered a knock in the same match.

Dayot Upamecano will also require a late fitness test, but at least Matthijs de Ligt is close to full fitness for the visitors and would be a welcome inclusion in their squad as Kingsley Coman, Tarek Buchmann, Sacha Boey and Bouna Sarr are all still absent.
