Franco Mastantuono of River Plate is a youngster that Real Madrid have been following for quite some time now.
Efforts were made to sign him last year itself but the deal ended up falling through following which relationship between the club and the 17-year-old’s agent soured.
As such, Real Madrid appeared to have moved on from their interest in the Argentine gem but club director Santiago Solari has again been pushing the club to sign the youngster.
While the interest may have been rekindled, Real Madrid had not made a move as they deemed his $45 million release clause high.
This allowed PSG to move swiftly to try and sign Mastantuono, with the new European champions even believed to be close to completing the deal.
However, according to journalist Siro Lopez, Real Madrid have not given up on their interest in Mastantuono yet and are planning to make one last attempt to beat PSG to his signing.

The idea of bringing him to the club before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup is off the table but the Spanish giants wish to try and hijack the PSG deal.
The Ligue 1 champions, despite having made progress, are yet to reach a total agreement with River Plate, which leaves the door open for Real Madrid.
In fact, another report from journalist Ramon Alvarez adds that Real Madrid are moving forward with the Mastantuono operation and things have been accelerating in the past few hours.
Only time will tell whether this late move from the Merengues is enough to beat PSG to the signing of one of South America’s most precocious young talents.
Mastantuono, for his part, is believed to dream of Real Madrid but was ready to move to Paris due to the Merengues’ inaction. With movement now taking place, it remains to be seen how things progress.
