Real Madrid are already planning for the 2025/26 season, with multiple strategic signings in the pipeline to strengthen their squad in the summer window.

At the same time, Los Blancos are also working on strategic contract renewals to secure the futures of some of the key players in the squad.

Vinicius Jr. is set to sign an extension until 2030, with the renewal likely to be confirmed at the end of the season.

Now, it appears that another very important player for Los Blancos is set to agree an extension with the club.

Thibaut Courtois set to renew until 2028

Indeed, as reported by Matteo Moretto and Alfredo Matilla, Courtois will be presented with a new two-year contract by Real Madrid on top of the existing year remaining on his current deal.

It would ensure that the Belgian superstar, who joined Real Madrid in 2018 and signed a five-year extension in 2021, will continue at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2028, when he will be 35 years old.

Real Madrid have a strict unwritten policy of not handing contracts longer than one year to players aged over 30. However, they are ready to break that rule in Courtois’ case and offer him a two-year extension.

A source from the club said: “It is an exception, because Courtois is an exceptional footballer.”

The sentiment is shared by both President Florentino Perez and the coaching staff, who continue to see Courtois as untouchable and consider him the best in the world in his position.

Although the agreement has not yet been signed, discussions have been ongoing for some time, and both parties are aligned. Barring any unexpected developments, Courtois will remain in Madrid until the age of 35.

The finalisation of Courtois’s new deal is expected in the coming weeks. While no official date has been set for the announcement, it is likely to come at the end of the La Liga season – though it may be brought forward if needed.
