A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to miss the beginning of the club’s Champions League campaign this coming season.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Ferland Mendy as the player in question.
Stopper Mendy has for his part been sidelined since back in April. This comes owing to a muscular injury suffered early in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
At the time, the exact diagnosis was ‘a rupture of the proximal hamstring of the rectus femoris in the right quadriceps’.
The assumption, in turn, was that Mendy would go on to miss the Club World Cup, but return for the start of next season.
If the latest update on the situation to have surfaced this week is anything to go by, however, then this will not be the case…
As per a report from Marca:
‘Everything points to the former Lyon player not making it to the start of La Liga in August or the Champions League in September.’
