Rodrygo made a significant impact during Real Madrid’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas.

The Brazilian, now fully fit and playing on the left flank, posed a constant threat to the Vallecano defence throughout the match as his pace, skill, and decision-making were pivotal in Real Madrid’s attacking plays.

One of his key contributions came before half-time when he provided an excellent cross for Jude Bellingham, helping level the score at 2-2.

In the second half, Rodrygo took centre stage by scoring the third goal, completing Real Madrid’s comeback.

This goal not only gave Real Madrid a temporary lead but also marked the end of Rodrygo’s frustrating goal drought. Before this match, he had gone 81 days without finding the back of the net.

The last time Rodrygo scored for Los Blancos was on 24th September against Alaves. In that match, which Real Madrid won 3-2, he netted the decisive third goal.

His prolonged scoring absence had raised concerns, but his performance against Rayo Vallecano demonstrated his ability to rise to the occasion when the team needed him most.

Rodrygo’s goal against Rayo was his fourth of the season, all of which have come in La Liga. Despite playing 19 matches across all competitions so far this season, he has yet to score in the Champions League.

His current tally reflects a challenging season for the Brazilian, marked by injuries and the dominance of the Bellingham-Mbappe-Vinicius (BMV) attacking trio in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

With just four goals this season compared to the nine he had at the same stage last year, Rodrygo’s contribution is evidently below expectations.

However, his performance against Rayo suggests he may be regaining his form and confidence. Real Madrid will hope this marks the beginning of a stronger second half of the season for the talented forward.
