La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Wednesday evening been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes owing to developments in the club’s derby showdown with city rivals Atlético.
Real Madrid are of course currently locked in action, in a Champions League Last-16 2nd-leg meeting with Diego Simeone’s Atléti.
As things stand, Los Blancos find themselves trailing by a goal to nil, owing to a close-range finish on the part of Conor Gallagher inside the opening 60 seconds.
And, as alluded to above, this has been far from the visitors’ only concern on the night.
In addition, Real saw a leading member of the club’s backline forced into a premature departure from proceedings.
Late on at the Metropolitano, Ferland Mendy pulled up suddenly clutching his hamstring, before immediately signalling to the bench that he was in distress.
The Frenchman, in turn, was swiftly hauled off, replaced by Fran García.
It now remains to be seen if Mendy is facing up to any sort of extended spell on the sidelines.
