Real Madrid star expected to miss Rayo Vallecano clash after sitting out training | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is expected to be afforded the day off when Carlo Ancelotti’s troops return to action this weekend.

That’s according to Melchor Ruiz of COPE, who points towards Federico Valverde as the player in question.

Valverde, for his part, is of course fresh off marking his return to the pitch on Tuesday night.

After sitting out each of Real Madrid’s prior three fixtures owing to ongoing fitness troubles, the Uruguayan slotted in at right-back in a Champions League Round-of-16 Madrid Derby.

And Valverde went on to shine once more, thoroughly impressing on both sides of the ball.

The 26-year-old was hooked from proceedings inside the game’s closing exchanges, looking in discomfort as he made his way from the field of play.

And as much, it has since been revealed, has culminated in Valverde missing group training once more.

As per Melchor Ruiz:

‘Fede Valverde worked away from the group (on Thursday).’

The all-action midfielder is therefore expected to be left out this weekend, when his teammates play host to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
