Last Friday, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé announced that he’d be leaving the club after this season, with his contract expiring next month. However, the 25-year-old will need to win over the Real Madrid dressing room.

In a heartfelt address lasting over three minutes, the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion expressed gratitude, acknowledged past missteps, professed his affection for the team, and, not surprisingly, revealed plans for “a new challenge” ahead.

While he didn’t mention Real Madrid, many know that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be arriving in the Spanish capital in the coming weeks. Furthermore, SPORT (h/t Le10Sport) reports that Mbappé will head into the Real Madrid dressing room needing to make a good impression on his new teammates.

According to the Spanish media outlet, Mbappé may not receive a warm welcome at Real Madrid. The squad, having reached the Champions League final, doesn’t see the point in integrating him.

“We don’t need him,” they might even say internally. Moreover, Mbappé’s arrival could spark a real turf war between the Brazilians (Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Eder Militao) and the French contingent (Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy).

Mbappé will also reportedly be at the top of the salary pecking order. He’s set to become Real Madrid’s top earner, surpassing both Vinicius and Jude Bellingham in salary.
