The possibility of Rodrygo leaving Real Madrid during the current transfer window is once again being discussed behind the scenes at the Spanish club.

Last night against PSG, the Brazilian forward remained on the bench for the fifth consecutive match during the Club World Cup, further fuelling speculation about his future.

A meeting between Real Madrid and Rodrygo’s representatives is expected in the coming days to clarify the player’s future, with the club said to be open to his departure.

Real Madrid want at least €100 million

Now, according to UOL Esporte in Brazil, Real Madrid have sent out a message to clubs that they want offers of around €100 million for Rodrygo to even begin negotiations, with the figure likely to rise depending on objectives and add-ons.

Rodrygo has stated his preference to play on the left wing – currently occupied by Vinicius Jr. Under former manager Carlo Ancelotti, Rodrygo adapted to playing on the right, but with Xabi Alonso in charge, his role has diminished, and he has lost his place in the starting XI.

As such, an exit is now very much on the cards, but it will take a big fee of around €100 million for the Merengues to sanction his departure.

Arsenal interested

Arsenal, aware of the situation, continue to show strong interest and are considering reactivating talks to sign the forward.

The Gunners have done thorough groundwork on the 24-year-old attacker and remain intent on his acquisition this summer. There have been preliminary talks between the club and the player’s camp.

Things could pick up speed in the coming weeks, once the meeting between Real Madrid and Rodrygo takes place, where a decision on his future will be made.
