According to AS, Real Madrid have rejected several offers for Fran Garcia and have no intention of selling the left-back this summer. The 25-year-old left-back is considered a key part of Xabi Alonso’s plans for the future.
On the other side of the situation is Ferland Mendy, who now appears to be on the transfer list, as per the report.
The recent €50 million signing of Alvaro Carreras has created an overload in the left-back position, making one of the three players surplus.
While there were question marks over Fran Garcia, he made a strong case for his continuity, especially with his performances at the FIFA Club World Cup under Alonso.
Although Mendy had been Carlo Ancelotti’s first choice, his injury problems opened the doors for Garcia, who made the most of his chances.
The 25-year-old further shone during the Club World Cup, starting every match and excelling, with the exception of the final against PSG, where two early mistakes affected his showing.

There had been widespread reports of AC Milan’s interest in signing him. But the player’s agent, Gines Carvajal, clarified to AS that the player’s camp never entered negotiations or offered him to Milan, who have since signed Pervis Estupinan.
Garcia has always been clear about his desire to stay at Real Madrid, where he is under contract until 2027. Looking ahead, it is possible that discussions over a renewal could take place in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Mendy has not yet featured under Xabi Alonso, as he continues to recover from an injury he sustained towards the end of the season.
Although Real Madrid extended the veteran star’s contract, now running until 2028, he is being encouraged to find an exit.
This situation poses a challenge. His injury record makes potential buyers hesitant, and due to his age and experience, he is on a mid-level salary within the squad.
But, Real Madrid would be willing to facilitate his departure if he chooses to leave.
