Real Madrid Put Rüdiger Contract Talks on Hold Amid Fitness Concerns
Real Madrid've decided to suspend contract renewal discussions with Antonio Rudiger despite the German international still having 2 year left on his current deal which runs until Jun 2026.
According to Spanish media reports, the Los Blancos hierarchy want to monitor Rudiger's physical condition following his recent return from injury.
The defender suffered knock during last season’s Copa del Rey final vs Barcelona but made swift comeback for the Club World cup.
However his performance during Madrid’s 4 - 0 semi final defeat to Paris Saint Germain raised questions with Rudiger directly involved in one of the conceded goals.
The club's reportedly waiting until the tournament ends to assess his fitness levels thoroughly before committing to renewal.
Since joining from Chelsea, the 20 million euro rated centre back's played 55 match for Real Madrid across all competitions including the Club World cup.
He's scored 3 goal, provided 1 assist and picked up 7 yellow cards & 1 red card.
