Real Madrid’s midfield maestro Jude Bellingham has his eyes firmly set on creating history this summer, as Los Blancos gear up for the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Speaking in an interview with FIFA (h/t Mundo Deportivo) just a month before the tournament kicks off on June 14, Bellingham underlined both the significance of the competition and Real Madrid’s hunger to be the first to claim the new global crown.

“It’s the opportunity to win a different kind of title, that’s the reality,” Bellingham said. “Trying to be the first to win it, that’s something special.”

Excited for the tournament

With the 2025 edition of the Club World Cup featuring an expanded format and being staged in a country where football’s popularity continues to rise, the tournament represents uncharted but exciting territory for players.

“It’s also the chance to play in the Americas, where I haven’t played regularly, and to face opponents you don’t normally play against,” he noted. “I think there are a lot of positives.”

Real Madrid have been drawn in Group H, alongside Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, Pachuca of Mexico, and Red Bull Salzburg of Austria.

While these opponents might not be traditional rivals for the Spanish giants, Bellingham insists that the squad’s motivation is as high as ever.

“An important part of this is being first. We all want to see how it will be received and how seriously teams approach it. But for us, it’s about adding another title. We don’t take it lightly.”

Furthermore, the Englishman is well aware that the opportunity to add a new title to the club’s glittering trophy cabinet doesn’t come around often.

“There aren’t many things you can do at this club that haven’t already been done. So, it’s nice to have another opportunity to do just that.”

The midfielder also highlighted the global appeal of Real Madrid. With the United States hosting the competition, Bellingham expects a carnival-like atmosphere created by supporters from across the globe.

“All of our matches will be good because we have fans all over the world. We were there during preseason, and we see more and more fans every year,” he added.
