Real Madrid megastar’s contract talks on standby as player in no hurry to renew | OneFootball

Over the past few weeks, there have been contradicting reports about the contract situation of Real Madrid megastar Vinicius Jr.

Some outlets have claimed that the Brazilian will sign a new contract with Los Blancos soon after the FIFA Club World Cup is over, stating that an agreement had been reached.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that there are still some significant differences between the player’s camp and the club over his new salary.

However, the general idea had been that Vinicius would be renewing his contract in the near future.

Renewal on standby

However, according to Marcos Benito on El Chiringuito TV, Vinicius Jr.’s renewal has now been put on standby as the Real Madrid superstar is in no hurry to negotiate and sign a new contract.

The 24-year-old attacker’s current deal runs until the summer of 2027, meaning there are still two years left on it, and he continues to attract serious interest from Saudi Arabia.

That is why Real Madrid had been pressing ahead with negotiations over an extension, potentially until 2029 or 2030.

However, as per the report, the player has put his renewal on standby for now as he wants to remain in full ‘control of his sporting life’.

Vinicius has always maintained that he remains fully committed to the club and wants to make history with this team.

Even as recenty as last week, the Brazilian reiterated his desire to continue achieving greatness with Real Madrid, saying:

“I hope I can stay here for many years. I’ve always said this is the club of my life. I’m very happy with the coach and everyone on the staff, and I hope I can keep playing here.

“I have a two-year contract left… until 2027. I’ve always said I want to stay here my entire career and make a great history with this team.”

So, what this development means with regard to Vinicius and his future at Real Madrid will be interesting to see.
