The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid maintain an interest in the services of a headline member of the record-breaking first-team setup at Bayer Leverkusen.

That’s according to SportBILD, as cited by Diario AS, who point towards Jeremie Frimpong as the player in question.

Wing-back Frimpong is for his part in the midst of nothing short of a remarkable individual campaign.

Making the right side of Xabi Alonso’s attack and defence alike his own, the Dutchman has racked up a head-turning 26 direct goal contributions, in 44 appearances across all competitions.

As much has proven central to Bayer’s historic season, with Alonso’s men yet to fall to a single defeat, and on course for a potential treble.

With such production, though, comes inevitable outside interest.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, Frimpong’s exploits have begun to pique the attentions of some of European football’s leading clubs.

As per SportBILD, all of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and the aforementioned Real Madrid have set their sights on the signature of the 23-year-old.

The latter have been credited with an interest in Frimpong on numerous occasions in the past, amid suggestions that he is considered a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

And a deal would not prove overly taxing on the financial front, either, with the former Celtic talent’s contract at the BayArena understood to contain a release clause set at just €40 million.
