Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly being targeted by his former club, Chelsea, according to a report from Fichajes.
Having previously made a significant impact at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea see Rudiger as a perfect solution to their ongoing defensive issues, making him their top priority in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea’s defensive struggles have been well-documented this season. With long-term injuries to key players like Wesley Fofana and inconsistent performances from defenders such as Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, the London club has found it difficult to maintain a solid defensive line.
These issues have led to dropped points in critical moments, forcing them to look for defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

The outlet mentions that the Blues’ board is determined to bring in a leader who can provide experience and stability at the back, and Rudiger is the perfect fit.
The 32-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having played a crucial role in Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League triumph under Thomas Tuchel. His leadership qualities, as well as his familiarity with the Premier League, make him a highly sought-after target.
Although Rudiger’s future at Real Madrid is not entirely uncertain, Chelsea believe that a deal is possible, particularly if Madrid is open to negotiations.
As far as Real Madrid are concerned, we have reported before that the team from the Spanish capital is ready to offer the German defender a new deal, and if agreed, his release clause would jump to €100 million.
If this works out well for them, Rudiger’s future will be safely secured, as no team would want to spend €100 million for a player who is in the twilight of his career. Unless Real Madrid are not open to listening to any offers, Rudiger will stay put.
