Real Madrid are heading into the Club World Cup with several players’ fitness under doubt. After all, Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Vinicius Jr, Eduardo Camavinga, Endrick and others all ending the league campaign injured.
The situation left Carlo Ancelotti with few options at centre-back in recent games with Jacobo Ramon getting minutes to impress as a result. One player who was not expected to play who also got some minutes under his belt was Jesus Vallejo.
The Real Madrid defender has been an outcast at the club for a long time now and has continually been linked with a departure from the institution. With his contract running out at the end of the season, this is his final campaign at the club.
As relayed in a recent update by The Athletic, Vallejo will not be part of Real Madrid’s trip to the FIFA Club World Cup and is not in the new manager’s plans.

The team’s game against Real Sociedad this weekend will thus be his final game as a Real Madrid player and it remains to be seen if Ancelotti hands him any minutes to say his farewell.
Over the years, the 28-year-old has played on loan across the globe including at Real Zaragoza, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton and Granada.
His role at Real Madrid, however, has been limited with him racking up just over 100 minutes all season. It is indeed surprising that the club has decided to opt against taking him to the event next month but is an indicator of the management’s sheer distrust in him.
With his contract now running out, it remains to be seen where he takes the next step in his career.
