Despite the difficulties Real Madrid have faced in trying to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, they have not lost interest in the Canadian player.

In fact, according to Diario AS, Madrid continue to closely watch Davies’ performance in the Copa America and once his participation in the tournament ends, they will make another attempt to bring him on board.

It is important to note that Davies is currently under contract with Bayern Munich until 2025. Although Bayern are keen to extend his contract, negotiations have hit a roadblock due to disagreements over his salary.

Because of this, they decided to keep him for the 2024/25 season even if he doesn’t sign a new deal, which means they risk losing him for free the following year.

Real Madrid have plans for Davies

Real Madrid, however, have clear plans for Davies, as the outlet suggests that he could become Madrid’s third summer signing this year after the arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.

Furthermore, Madrid hope to include the left-back in their summer tour, but first, they need to finalise his acquisition. Right now, there is a sense of calm within the club regarding this situation.

This is because they believe they have time on their side because of the current contracts of their other left-backs, Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia. Mendy recently turned down a renewal offer, and Garcia has attracted interest from a Premier League club.

This gives Madrid a window until 2025, when Davies’ contract with Bayern expires, allowing them to potentially sign him without needing to negotiate with the German club.
