Recent reports have made it clear that Real Madrid will not be pursuing Trent Alexander-Arnold in the January transfer window.

In fact, despite rumours suggesting that the English defender could move to Madrid soon, all parties involved have ruled out the possibility.

Alexander-Arnold, who has been a key player for Liverpool, is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season. However, the idea that he might join Real Madrid in January seems highly unlikely.

According to reliable sources, including OkDiario, this speculation is far from reality. Liverpool, where Alexander-Arnold has developed through the youth ranks, would not consider selling him to a direct European rival, especially in the middle of the season.

The club values him greatly, and allowing him to leave would be a significant loss, not only in terms of his talent but also his identity within the team.

Real Madrid do not want to carry out the operation

On top of that, Real Madrid do not want to pay a large sum for a player who is nearing the end of his contract.

It is to be noted that the defender’s current deal with Liverpool runs until 2025, but he could technically sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January, paving the way for a free transfer in the summer.

Madrid, understanding this, see no need to rush into a deal when they could secure him for free a few months later.

Additionally, Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, is not keen on causing friction with Liverpool, a club he has a strong relationship with, especially with Liverpool.

He values the rapport between the two clubs, and making a high-profile move for Alexander-Arnold could jeopardize that connection.

While Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to join Madrid in January, there remains a possibility that he could play for the Spanish giants in the future.

One potential opportunity is the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025.

FIFA has announced that they will allow clubs to sign players before the competition to strengthen their squads.

If Alexander-Arnold has already secured a move to Madrid by then, he could potentially feature in the tournament, either through an agreement or an extension to his contract with Liverpool.
