MIAMI – The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 continues with 2021 Concacaf Champions Cup winners CF Monterrey facing Club Atlético River Plate on Saturday in Group E at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, USA.
CF Monterrey drew 1-1 against Inter Milan in its opening encounter. The Mexican club remained unbeaten in international play this year, recording two wins and three draws across the Concacaf Champions Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
At 39 years and 79 days, Sergio Ramos became the oldest player to score in the current Club World Cup, surpassing Benfica’s Nicolás Otamendi. Ramos now has five goals in ten matches so far for Rayados in 2025.
Argentinian side River Plate won its opening game 3-1 against Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds, scoring all three goals from headers. Marcos Acuña registered two assists in the win, matching the total number of assists he had provided across all previous 2025 appearances.
