One of Hansi Flick’s greatest achievements in his debut season at Barcelona has been his remarkable ability to maximise the potential of his squad.
The German manager has elevated the performances of numerous players. However, one player who seems to have benefited the most from Flick’s arrival is Raphinha.
The Brazilian winger is enjoying an outstanding season and has emerged as one of the team’s key figures as they approach the most crucial part of the campaign.
Flick’s faith in Raphinha has been a turning point in the winger’s career at Barcelona. From the very start, the coach made it clear that he saw Raphinha as a vital part of his plans.

This trust helped the Brazilian regain the composure and confidence needed to perform at his best. It’s no surprise that this mental boost has been reflected in his impressive displays on the pitch.
“When his arrival was made official, he called me and told me that he was one of the players he counted on, without knowing me or having seen me train.
“This was very important in my decision to stay. I knew it would be important for the team,” he told France Football (h/t SPORT).
The Brazilian attacker’s time under Xavi Hernandez was not as smooth. Despite his undeniable talent, Raphinha struggled to maintain consistent form and game time under the former manager.

“Although there were many rumours about my departure last season, he kept telling me that he was counting on me.”
Nevertheless, he remains grateful for Xavi’s belief in him. Even when speculation about his possible departure was rampant, Xavi consistently backed him and played a role in ensuring that he remained part of the squad.
“If he hadn’t been the coach of Barça, I wouldn’t wear this shirt that I’ve always dreamed of wearing. Xavi was convinced that with hard work I would become an important player,” he added.
Now, as Barcelona continues to chase their ambitions, Raphinha remains optimistic about their chances in La Liga.

Though Real Madrid currently lead the standings, he believes that football is unpredictable and that the team can close the gap.
Barcelona’s performances in the Champions League have been promising, but their domestic form has left room for improvement.
“Football is unpredictable, a lot can happen between now and May. We’ve played good games this season, especially in the Champions League. In La Liga, we have been a little worse, but we will try to fight for the trophy until the end,” he said.
Raphinha’s journey at Barcelona highlights the transformative power of strong leadership and unwavering belief, both of which have contributed to his resurgence as a vital player for the Catalan giants.
