Barcelona and Real Madrid engaged in a highly entertaining clash at King Abdullah Stadium in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night. With a trophy on the line, the tensions rode sky high.

Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring early for Los Blancos but Lamine Yamal soon equalised for Barcelona with a cool finish past Thibaut Courtois.

Back-to-back goals from Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha overturned the deficit and gave Barcelona a 3-1 lead in a matter of minutes.

To add the cherry to the cake, Alejandro Balde racked up a goal in the dying seconds of the half.

The second period got off to the perfect start for Barcelona with Raphinha scoring a fifth goal and giving Barcelona an all but secure win.

However, Wojciech Szczesny’s red card and Rodrygo’s free-kick goal left the situation in jeopardy once more.

Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 5-2 Real Madrid.

Wojciech Szczesny: 6

The Polish shots-stopper had a busy night against Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr but did well to keep Barcelona in the game repeatedly.

Not much he could do about the opening goal but came up clutch with several saves, well-timed runs out of the box, and high-claims to end Real Madrid’s attacking chances.

Was sent off early in the second period for a poor challenge on Mbappe outside the box.

Alejandro Balde: 8.5

The left-back dished out a lovely performance from start to finish, nearly flawless in both defence and offence as he continues his impressive growth under Hansi Flick.

Completed all his passes in the opening period and largely kept Rodrygo under check. Lashed out with pace on the counter and even scored Barcelona’s fourth goal on the night with a cool finish past Thibaut Courtois from a tight angle.

Pau Cubarsi: 8.5

Playing at such a high level at 17 years of age should not be possible, but Cubarsi only goes from strength to strength with every passing week.

The Spanish centre-back was rock solid against Real Madrid through the 90 minutes and maintained his cool despite having his partner change midway through the game. His pace was vital in keeping up with Real Madrid’s rampant counters.

Inigo Martinez: 8

Martinez was a force to reckon with at the back and was alert to every loose ball so as to ensure it was cleared before it created a ruckus. Unfortunately, his night ended early after he faced a muscle niggle.

Jules Kounde: 8.5

Going up against Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius on the night, Kounde had a lot of defensive ground to cover in the final. Yet, that did not deter him from making attacking contributions of his own.

The Frenchman was ever-present in the final third in Barcelona’s buildup phase and always provided a passing outlet to Lamine Yamal.

His highlight, needless to say, was the inch-perfect cross to Raphinha for the team’s third goal.

Marc Casado: 9

The youngster was partly responsible for the first goal Barcelona conceded but was impressive beyond that singular mistake.

Another run-of-the-mill defensive midfield masterclass from Casado where he did not offer the opposition much time on the ball.

Earned an assist for Raphinha’s second goal with a defence-splitting pass from the middle of the field.

Pedri: 8

The Canary Islander dictated the flow of Barcelona’s midfield play and orchestrated the overall distribution with ease.

Made it look simple to skip past the Real Madrid midfield and found the right passing outlets consistently.

Gavi: 8

The youngster was relatively playing catch-up for the opening part of the game but soon found his mojo with simple one-touch passing sequences and movements between the lines.

Won the all-important penalty that gave Barcelona the lead against Real Madrid in the first half after going down on a Camavinga horror challenge.

Lamine Yamal: 9.5

Words cannot describe the quality Yamal oozes as a teenager, and his ability to showcase it at the highest level under immense pressure is what makes him special.

The 17-year-old was simply phenomenal against Real Madrid, creating chances whenever he got on the ball and taking defenders out for fun.

Scored the equaliser for Barcelona at King Abdullah Stadium with a sensational piece of solo work to beat defenders and Thibaut Courtois and produced a finish anyone would be proud of.

Raphinha: 10

The Brazilian was all over the field for Barcelona, dictating the offensive buildup and covering large areas defensively.

Was extremely bright in the opening phase of the game and created numerous chances to put the team ahead.

Eventually got his goal with a stunning header off Kounde’s cross and again proved why he is the best Brazilian in the business at the moment.

Completed his brace after the break with another ice-cool world-class finish.

Robert Lewandowski: 8.5

The Polish striker stepped up and converted Barcelona’s penalty in the first half to give the team the lead but his impact was far beyond that contribution.

Despite not taking too many shots on goal, the Polish star’s role of dropping deep and pulling defenders created multiple attacking avenues for Barcelona.

In fact, it was Lewandowski’s touch that set Yamal free for the equaliser.

Ronald Araujo: 8

The Uruguayan did well to fill in Inigo Martinez’ boots and had tremendous responsibility on his shoulders after the sending off.

However, managed to hold his ground and keep Los Blancos at bay.
