The Premier League is well known as the richest league in the world as the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle each have some of the richest owners in the business.

As many as 15 Premier League clubs are currently owned by billionaires, with four of those owners having a net worth of over £10billion.

It will come as little surprise to learn that Newcastle United have the richest owners in the league, with 80% of the club being owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

Prior to their arrival in the league, Manchester City were the richest club in the land. The Abu Dhabi United Group hold a majority stake in the club and boast a net worth in excess of £17billion.

While City are currently facing 115 charges of breaking the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules over a nine-year period, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak doesn’t think this should take away from their success on the pitch.

“I hope people focus and judge them for their football and what they’re achieving on the pitch and what they’re achieving in every competition they’re in. That’s the reality,” Al Mubarak explained via The Mirror.

“The club as a whole is well run, is very well run. Today, the value of this group is over six billion dollars. We’ve created so much value – we’ve brought in world class investors.

“Why? Because we have a commercial machine here that is one of the best in the world. Our executives are being targeted by the best teams in the world – always. By the way – it’s a credit to us.”

Chelsea and Arsenal’s owners also boast a net worth of over £10billion and each rank within the four richest owners in the league. Todd Boehly certainly hasn’t been shy of splashing the cash since arriving in London.

Under Boehly’s ownership so far, Chelsea have spent over £600million on transfer fees alone. During that time period, they have outspent every single Premier League club.

The likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool, Fulham, West Ham, Wolves and Tottenham then make up the remainder of the top 10 richest owners.

Manchester United, who are still owned by the Glazer Family rank 12th on the list. Takeover talks have been in the pipeline for some time with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim interested in the club, although a deal has not yet been struck.
