If a recent report from The Daily Record is believed to be true, Rangers have reached an agreement with Go Ahead Eagles for Oliver Antman. They are ready to splash a fee of around £5m for the wide attacker, and according to the sources in the Netherlands, the signing of the young forward could be announced within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The 23-year-old Finnish international spent his youth years with KOPSE, HJK, CF Damm and Legirus Inter, and also enjoyed senior football with TiPS and Gnistan in Finland’s lower leagues. He then completed a €50k transfer to Nordsjælland and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the Danish outfit.

Antman spent a brief loan stint with Groningen in the second half of the 2022-23 season, but returned to North Zealand following the Dutch side’s relegation to Eerste Divisie. He went back to Eredivisie just over a year later, this time with Go Ahead Eagles, who snapped him up for €1.5m last summer.

What He Would Offer In The Gers’ Attack

The youngster has been an instant success in Deventer, as he netted six times and laid on 16 more in 36 appearances across competitions. He played his part in Go Ahead’s first-ever KNVB Cup silverware, but is on the move again to be a part of Russell Martin’s Rangers revolution.

Antman loves to hold on to the ball, thus drawing his opponents and creating space for his teammates in and around the attacking third. His lay-offs, dribbles, and passing game must be brought into play to inject more flair and finesse across the frontline.

The Gers have already recruited Djeidi Gassama, who made his presence known by finding the net on his debut against Panathinaikos. Jeserun Rak-Sakyi is also on their books as a like-for-like alternative to Vaclav Cerny, with the latter closing in on a permanent move to Besiktas after an impressive season-long loan stint donning Rangers colours.

Why Rangers Must Get The Deal Done ASAP

Predominantly a right winger, Antman could also be utilised from the left as an inverted option. While it remains to be seen how Martin deploys him if Rak-Sakyi plies his trade north of the border, an immediate transfer could see the attacking ace grab the starting spot for now.

The Ibrox boss was forced to deploy Kieran Dowell as a makeshift wideman against the Greek giants in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier. Although Antman won’t be eligible for this midweek’s return leg contest, Martin should involve him over the weekend, when the Light Blues would begin their quest for the coveted Scottish crown by locking horns with Motherwell.
