It is no secret that Rangers have a long-standing interest in Dor Turgeman. However, they must table a ‘fairytale offer’ to secure his services, as revealed by Maccabi Tel Aviv boss Zarko Laztic, according to Israeli outlet Sport1.
“He is a football beast, only a fairytale offer would tempt the club to sell the player. £4m will not be enough.”
Laztic told Sport 1 (as quoted by The Daily Mail) following their friendly win over Hapoel Ironi Rishon LeZion.
The Light Blues had an offer rebuffed by the Yellows earlier this window. Despite previous reports of a £5m asking fee for the 21-year-old centre-forward, the club might demand more, particularly after the manager’s high praise for their prized asset.
The Israeli international joined Maccabi from the academy ranks of Ashdod and eventually secured a regular role at Bloomfield after spending the 2021-22 season out on loan with Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam. Turgeman netted 12 times in the 2023-24 campaign, but grabbed attention last season, having scored 20 goals in 44 appearances across competitions [stats via Transfermarket].

Rangers are undergoing a busy summer upon the arrival of Russell Martin as the new Ibrox chief. Besides converting Oscar Cortes’ loan into a permanent deal, the Light Blues have already snapped up seven new names to ramp up the squad rebuild.
However, Djeidi Gassama is the only attacking reinforcement Martin has made so far. The Gers parted ways with Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi upon the expiry of their respective contracts. Also, they could not meet Vaclav Cerny’s valuation, even though the on-loan Czech wideman was a shining light from the right-hand flank.
Meanwhile, both Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers are expected to part ways amid interest from Europe. The duo were introduced as second-half substitutes, with Danilo spearheading the attack in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round contest against Panathinaikos.
Despite a 2-0 victory at Ibrox, the Greek giants would go full throttle in their attempt to turn things around in front of the home crowd. The Scottish heavyweights must bolster the frontline irrespective of the return leg result, and therefore, must step up the chase for Turgeman unless their focus has shifted elsewhere.
The investment from Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, along with the potential profit from the upcoming player sales, makes them competitive in the transfer market. But they are not expected to spend any amount, as they have given up on Owen Beck due to Liverpool’s £10m stance on their emerging left fullback. It remains to be seen how things shape up in the coming days.
